Emanuela D'Alessandro - Biography
Emanuela D’Alessandro was born in Rome on 9 November, 1960. She graduated in political science from the L.U.I.S.S. University in Rome.
A special interest in international affairs led her to join the Italian Foreign Service in 1987. After a vocational training course she began her career at the Directorate General for Personnel.
Her first post abroad was to Budapest in 1993, as Commercial First Secretary. In 1997 she was transferred to Vienna at the OSCE, where she worked as personal assistant to the Secretary General and subsequently as Counsellor at the Italian Delegation.
Back in Rome in 2000 she was appointed to the Structure in charge of the organization of the Italian Presidency of the G8 and the summit of Heads of State and Government (Genova, 2001). In october 2001, she returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Head Secretary at the Directorate General for the Countries of Europe and, later on, as Head of the Office V of the Directorate General for Personnel, which deals with public competitions and hiring.
From January 2004 until march 2008 she was Head of the Office I of the Directorate General for Personnel, attending to the juridical status of all the staff of the Ministry.
Since march 2008 she is Director of the Diplomatic Institute “Mario Toscano”, the training school of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In January 2009 she was promoted to the rank of Minister Plenipotentiary.
On 25th of October 2011 accredited as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to the Republic of Croatia.
